GRAMMY Award鈥揥inning Christian Artist Chris Tomlin Named Pepperdine鈥檚 Inaugural Artist and Worship Ambassador

Chris Tomlin

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, GRAMMY Award鈥搘inning contemporary Christian artist and worship leader Chris Tomlin has been appointed 黑料爆料鈥檚 inaugural artist and worship ambassador. This innovative partnership, which will extend through May 3, 2025, marks a bold new chapter in the University's vision to integrate faith, artistry, and community.

Widely regarded as a pioneer of contemporary worship music, Tomlin is celebrated worldwide for his iconic songs that have united millions in praise, including 鈥淗ow Great Is Our God,鈥 鈥淕ood Good Father,鈥 and 鈥淥ur God.鈥 At Pepperdine he will play a pivotal role in enriching spiritual life and the worship experience on campus.

鈥淐hristian worship is foundational to who we are at Pepperdine,鈥 says Tim Spivey ('97, MS '00, MDiv '00), vice president for spiritual life. 鈥淭his partnership and Chris Tomlin's deep commitment to fostering students' engagement in worship aligns perfectly with the University鈥檚 tireless dedication to Christ-centered spiritual growth. I look forward to the ways in which this unique opportunity will nurture our students' faith and encourage the flourishing of a culture of worship on our campus.鈥

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Tomlin will engage with Pepperdine students involved in the University鈥檚 worship ministry, Waves Worship, led by University worship director Ko Ku, through mentorship, workshops, and worship services. That evening at the Well, the University鈥檚 weekly worship event, Tomlin will also share his talent and faith with the campus community. Through these meaningful experiences, Tomlin will collaborate closely with community members and provide Pepperdine students with fresh ways to deepen and develop their Christian faith.

鈥淚t is an honor to be invited by Pepperdine to be their inaugural Artist and Worship Ambassador,鈥 said Chris Tomlin. 鈥淭hroughout my life, many people and moments have shaped and guided my mission to help give people a voice to worship God. My hope is that this incredible opportunity helps to encourage, inspire, and guide the next generation of faith leaders.鈥

Through his dynamic worship leadership, Tomlin鈥檚 participation at Pepperdine events has consistently fostered a spirit of unity and inspiration on campus. A two-time headliner at the annual Pepperdine Worship Summit, the University鈥檚 annual celebration of faith, Tomlin has delivered unforgettable performances that have resonated deeply with students, faculty, staff, and guests alike. His residency will further inspire and uplift the University community through his powerful voice and presence.

In addition to his music career and role in worship leadership, Tomlin recently released a new book, How Great Is Our God: Living a Worship-Led Life in a Me-Driven World. In this work, he explores his rich musical catalog, offering insights on how worship music can serve as a powerful tool for prioritizing God and embracing a worship-centered life.
